The first thing you need to know is what version of Tivoli software distribution tool they are using.

The Tivoli software distribution part is only a part of "Tivoli" there's other parts of Tivoli that do other functions that don't have anything to do with software distribution.

It's been about 8 years since I used the software distribution tool in Tivoli. At that time the GUI was very basic and you still had to do a lot on the Unix back end to prepare for software distribution of a package. I don't know how much it has changed in the last 8 years

But you need to find out what version they are using then you can do a search on the link above or on the net.

1 - Is it accept .exe files to distribute or just msi and vbs?
Yes, in tivoli software dist you can add in .exe and msi. I'm not aware of just vbs I never did that one.

2 - Is it work with User Context and System Context?
We mostly did deployments to systems (machines). You may be able to do per user but I'm not aware of that for tivoli.

3 - Is there any catchs I need to be aware of?
I wouldn't go near Tivoli unless you are very familiar with it as a software distribution tool. It can be more complicated with it's unix back end at least it was 8 or so years ago when I was using it for swdist.

You didn't really say what you were wanting to do. Is someone just asking you to make packages that they will take and use tivoli to deploy ?

Yes, I am working in a big company and they followed me to do packages to distribute by Tivoli. They really need a resource ASAP, so I was needed infos to be sure what stuff I'm gona go...

I will give him my answer next monday, so I will study more about it. Do you have any docs to share, or some links to provide me?
