- Have you re-run the install with a verbose log to tie down the exact cause of the error? My guess is that there's a Custom Action being run which, if the install runs to completion OK without it, could be conditioned-out.

Yes with the verbose log, but we do not see anything that explains why it is failing:

We tried again with this command:

We recreated the transform and left it blank. By default, it uninstalls old versions.

What you've posted is simply the list of properties. I would repeat the install with verbose logging but copy the log's content when the popup occurs. Use a proper text editor to open the log, as Notepad trips over locked files.

First off, we use trace32 and sometimes notepad ++, not notepad.

I was watching the log real-time and the popup shows up at 7:34:05:852 and then hangs. I terminated msiexec right after otherwise if I hit the ok, it continues and performs the uninstall and install.

Also, we have alrteady defragged twice, and it does not help....

Hmmm...I seem to recall running into problems for a client with the DefragmentFiles CA. Try conditioning it out so that it doesn't run.

Can you by chance tell me how you do the condition to stop it from doing the defrag check? We have been googling it for a while to find out, but no luck. We are more workstation oriented than application unfortunately....

Jason; go into the InstallExecuteSequence table and find the entry (row) that has the DefragmentFiles value in the Action column, in the Condition column you set the condition 1=0 which will always resolve to false and prevent the custom action from being executed.

We do not see an option for 1=0 or anything like that...

For the DefragmentFiles area we see - (ENABLE_OPTIMIZATION="YES") And (ProductCode><"AC76BA86") And ((&ViewerProgramFiles=3) Or (REINSTALL><"ViewerProgramFiles") Or (REINSTALL="ALL"))

The sequence is 5870.

There is another one listed as DefragmentFiles_InitProgress with the same identical section with a sequence of 5865.

Thanks - but now it keeps giving us a 1624 error which means "invalid TRANSFORM." We took the transform that was created by the Adobe Customization Tool Wizard X and used INSTEd (msi transform editor) to modify that key to what you suggested. Please advise.

What happens if you use Adobe Customization Tool to modify the condition?

This also happens when we just run msiexec /X (GUID) without installing anything...

Did you ever find out the cause of this issue? I am receiving this same error in the log now when deploying packages made with the Adobe AAMEE tool. This is occurring on some Win7 64bit computers which are supposed to already have .NET2 installed.

That log doesn't say too much.
So you are saying that if you modify the condition you get an "invalid" transform?
If so; do you get the same failure if you just modify a property?
