Uninstalling a previous version
Is there a way to repackage an app so that it will uninstall the previous version of the app first?
I have read through some of the discussion on Prerequisites, but I have not see if you can have an unistall be a prerequisite.
I am fairly new to this, so forgive me if this is a dumb question. If there are some resources or websites you might recommend, let me know.
Thanks,
James

Why not use a VB script or custom action to uninstall it. If you are deploying via sms use the run this package first before you install the new package.
I'm against using scripts to unistall apps if they have an uninstall string or are msi's which can be uninstalled correctly.
A VB script wont give you the error detection to tell you if the app is actually uninstalled or not.....better to use the native uninstall to ensure consistency.
