Using the various EXEs present in the Softricity folder
Hi,
I have recently started working with Softricity and while working at the SoftGrid client I was trying to figure out what function and usability the various executable files in the SoftGrid for Windows Desktop folder carry, I couldn't find out much on that.
Can anyone help me with that.
TIA
Mukul.

Sure, here are the two key executables you would probably use from a command line.
SFTMIME.

SFTTray 4.x.

Hey thanks KK for that, it was a real help, but there are some other files available too like:
sftdcc.exe
sftdde.exe
sftlist.exe
stflp.exe
sftprofilecleaner.exe
and sftvsa.exe
Can you please help me out with these...
Thanks
Mukul
I don't have documentation for those. I don't know if those support any sort of useful functionality from the command line. For example sftlist.exe runs as a service. I'll see if I can find any documentation on these but I don't recall there being any.

sftlist.exe - SoftGrid Client 3.x Logging Options

If your German is better then mine you could try to translate the description for the sftdcc.exe & sftvsa.exe executables from http://www.galileocomputing.de/download/dateien/1209/galileocomputing_softgrid4.pdf

I don't read German either, but I think you should take descriptions of the EXEs on that document with grain of salt.
For example, for sftvsa.exe it says something along the lines (use babelfish.altavista.com to translate if you cannot read German, it's output is sort of understandable English) of this being process that creates virtual environment and VSA standing for "Virtual Software Archive". Well, obviously this is not the case because one of the two services added to system by SG-client, SoftGrid Virtual Service Agent, is actually pointing to that very executable and hence it is more likely that VSA stands for "Virtual Service Agent" (in fact, if you take properties from that exe, it says "Softricity SoftGridSoftricity SoftGrid Virtual Service Agent" in description...). Which I guess is process responsible for maintaining/starting virtualized services for packages.
Equally suspectful-looking description in document is that of sftdcc.exe which is context-process for handling configuration of user's desktop, running in each session.

I found the following information in the SoftGrid® 4.0 Administration Training Guide for SFTlist.exe:
SFTlist.exe is a command line utility that can be used to change the log level of the client or to reset the client log file.
- SFTList.exe /verboselog – change the log level to Verbose
- SFTList.exe /infolog – change the log level to Information
- SFTList.exe /warninglog – change the log level to Warning (the default on install)
- SFTList.exe /resetlog – moves the existing log file to a backup location and renames it to sftlog0001.txt and incrementally from there.
You can use http://www.freetranslation.com for getting a pretty decent translation of the German manual listed above.
Hope that helps...

That info seems alike from the KB above except for:
As of 3.1.x and greater, the following Command-line options can be used to change and reset the SoftGrid Client log file without restarting the SoftGrid Client service.
Command - Description
sftlist.exe /verboselog - sets the log level to Verbose
sftlist.exe /warninglog - sets the log level to Warnings (default)
sftlist.exe /resetlog - moves the current log to sftlogXXXX.txt and creates a new log
