VMware Tools with a reboot [Answered]

Hello, I'm going crazy.

I'd like to deploy with MI VMware Tools with a reboot.

I tried setup64.exe /s /v "/qn reboot=F rebootprompt=S allusers=1 addlocal=all /l c:\windows\temp\install.log"

A reboot is needed but not done.....

Maybe more chance with MSI? (Setup64 /a)

If the tools are installing correctly the easiest way would be a task chain (go to Distribution | Task Chains) where you run a reboot task after this install.

What did the log say?

Also according to the documentation REBOOT=Y is nessesary instead of F (and also it does not make sense to force a reboot and asks the same time if it should run, so the both parameters may impact each other)

  • Thank you! My issue is resolved. A reboot is now initiated.
    Edit : only Windows 2016 servers. Not Windows 2008 R2.... - anonymous_152124 4 years ago
