Wise 7.0 SP3 and Win7

Good Day All,

I am having issues placing files with an MST created with Wise 7.0 SP3, I want to copy an XML file to the program directory for this application. They file gets place in the cab but does not get put in the C:\Program Files\%theapp% when I install it with the MST on the win7 PC.

Does anyone know if Wise 7.0 SP3 works with Win 7?
Is this a user error (“Me”) or an issue with my client’s tool? I would like to get a copy of Adminstudio but my client does not want to pay for it.

Thanks for all your help,

Eric

Yes, it works, but you need to capture on XP and not on Windows 7. You also need to take care of Program Files and Program Files (x86) folders. Also registries.
If you want your file to go in Program Files rather than Program Files (x86) which will be by default then you have to mark your component as a 64 bit component.

It will for most things. Just make sure you check SET on an Xp and Win7 machine and compare the System variables and ensure your variable/path is correct for both. Keep in mind that Wise and UAC may not get along so well.

I should also add, you may want to start looking at AdminStudio/InstallShield (free trial) as well as monitor Flexara for possible patches for Wise.

To answer your question directly - Yes, i have a Windows 7 VM with Wise 7.0 SP3 and i have had no problem creating transform files to change files and so on.

As to your issue, How are you applying the transform file MSIEXEC <Package Name> TRANSFORMS=<Transform.MST>? Are any other changes from the transform (If there are any) coming through?

As for your client you might want to let them know that Flexera acquired Wise and are moving to a One product to rule them all solution, that one product being - Admin Studio. If you want to try a free trial for admin studio to see if this is causing /contributing to your Wise/Windows 7 issue you can look into free trials here:

Do you mean that the files in the MST aren't being installed at all or just not in the correct location? For the former, as already pointed out, check the command line you're using. For the latter, you're aware of the different '%ProgramFiles% paths between 32-bit and 64-bit Windows?
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
