Note
For network deployment of this product, I highly recommend the Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition, which generates an MSI for whatever products you want to install, has the ability to disable updates, reminders, and all that jazz.

The MSI will wind up in the "Build" directory, and there will be somewhere in the neighborhood of four "exceptions" which are mostly Adobe AIR installers that could not be included in the MSI deployment (along with an MSI, which I feel should have been in the build, but that's nit picking at this point).

Just make sure you deploy the AIR packages and the additional MSI with the MSI in the build folder, and you're good to go.

Virtualization
I've managed to make the following sequences:
- Illustrator
- InDesign
- Flash Professional (+ Catalyst + Builder)
- Dreamweaver
- Photoshop (+ Bridge)

To my knowledge, all are working fine. Keep in mind that you'll need powerful machines to run it though (which is recommended anyways even when not sequencing the apps)

With App-V 4.6 the licensing service problem doesn't seem to exist at all. No tricks needed to get it running.


Some tips:

- Create a custom installation first with the deployment toolkit. Make sure auto updating, eula and any other configurations are done here. Also installation directory can be set in advance here.

- When running the custom deployment make sure you have it copied locally, it will fail over UNC paths. switches are /qn and optionally ADOBEINSTALLDIR

- On first run, turn off the splash screen. For some reason the splash screen was a blank screen when run on a client (while it did work during sequencing phase)

- Delete the %CSIDL_WINDOWS%\Installer folder from your sequence. This saves quite some space (it's a cached copy of the installer MSI).

Note

Something worth noting that our license managment dept were unaware of when they purchased CS5 is that the versions of Premiere Pro and After Effects are 64bit only and if you require use of them under a CS5 license, you will have to instead use CS4 versions provided.

Note
We have a 500 seat license for Adobe Master Creative Suite 5. Unfortunately, our 'physical' copy came in three separate discs and some of you may have the same issue so I will address this with a solution.

Assuming you have the three discs including the content disc, open ImgBurn and create an image from the two App discs. Once you've created the two iso files, close out Imgburn and navigate to the folder containing your two isos.

1.) Right-click each .iso file individually, navigate to 7-zip and extract the archives separately to their own folders. Do not simply merge them together into one folder by extracting to one location.

2.) Since you've extracted the images to two separate folders, you will notice that both folders have an autorun.inf file and an icon. The primary installation disc should have a CS5 Master Coll. readme PDF file in it.

3.) In the folder containing the contents of disk 2, you will notice an "/Adobe CS5/" folder. Navigate into this folder and copy the "payloads" folder.

4.) After copying the payloads folder, navigate to the "/Adobe CS5/" folder within the disk 1 folder and paste the payloads directory in there.

Open Adobe Enterprise Application Manager

Set a desired location where you want the package to be assembled (not the same directory as the disc contents.)

Select the Adobe CS5 folder containing set-up.exe

Continue! The rest is self explanatory.

To install the msi with QB switch option change the value of condition "UILevel" in the table "LaunchCondition" from 2 to 3

Note

To uninstall this program easily, I recommend downloading the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner.

Extract the .exe file and run with this command:
"adobecreativesuitecleanertool.exe" --removeAll=CS5-CS5.5

This will remove all Adobe products version CS5 and CS5.5

You can uninstall CS6 with the following:
"adobecreativesuitecleanertool.exe" --removeAll=CS6

Note
If you are using Microsoft SCCM (formerly SMS), and you have "Administrative Install", then SCCM uses the SYSTEM account. If you are like most, then your Internet Administrator has locked off Internet access for the SYSTEM account, to help prevent hacks. Well, AIR unfortunately still has that secretive connection to the Internet, and it will spit up the installation if it can't reach back to Adobe to report your systems.

I just got the Application Manager for CS5, I am going to see if I can drop AIR from installing, just like we were thankfully able to do with CS4. AIR really is a nightmare. I will post results once I have some.

Note
A wee sneaky. Thanks to the UAC in my environment, when I was trying to run the .msi I created it kept failing, I couldn't work out why. It finally dawned on me the UAC was trying to kick in, couldn't because of the .msi blocking any user interaction at all so it wouldn't allow the install. Make sure that when calling from the command line to run cmd.exe as administrator, as would happen when deployed by SCCM anyhow.

Update 15 July:
Even though changing the UI level to 3 fixes the UI error (on the command line msiexec/i <pckg> /qb) it appears for some reason this doesn't work with SCCM, still get that error about running UI mode.

Note
I ran into an issue with the silent install that you must do if you use the Adobe Application Manager for deployment of CS5. According to the documentation, you have to run the built MSI as follows:

msiexec /i "package.msi" /silent

This was a problem for me, because we would have users reboot during the installation process. I was able to edit the built MSI and change the following setting:

Edited MSI with ORCA
Click LaunchCondition table
Change UILevel=3

This allowed me to build the installation will Autoit and run a prgress bar. I used the following command:

msiexec /i "package.msi" /passive
