This is so true. While it might work on a small scale and look to save money what is the offset. It creates a lot more issues and complaints as well. -

As the true costs and benefits of VDI become more apparent through real-life deployments, it seems that VDI will be an important alternative to traditional PCs, but is not likely to replace them completely anytime soon. It's important for organizations to look carefully at the problems that they are trying to solve, and evaluate if VDI or another technology is the best fit. -

We are currently looking at VDI as a desktop replacement solution. 1 - Windows 7 migration, 2 - Limited User rights, 3 - Lower Hardware requirements (offset annual replacement PC costs), 4 - Access from any device, 5 - Reduce the costs associated w/ imaging.
VDI does come without a savings. You gotta boost your back-end infrastructure hardware and you have licensing costs associated with the technology. Not to mention you may have additional OS licensing costs. We are still evaluating it, but I agree with Brian's article. I have advocated many of these points to management. -
