5.3 Release Available?

Hi all,

I just checked the Kace site and I saw that the 5.3 server and client releases were available for download. Is this the official release? I have not seen any announcements and I know from reading the forums that it has been quasi-available from support to address specific issues.

I'm interested in taking the plunge, but only if this is the official release.

Thanks!

5.3 is now on the download site. I personally was waiting until that moment to consider that the GA official release. There are still some known issues and a patch is now released also. If you are already on 5.3, please upgrade to SP1 (5.3.45497)

It's very important to follow the instructions! Read before implementing. Read the release notes also.
PLEASE READ THIS ARTICLE AND FOLLOW EXACTLY: http://www.kace.com/support/kb/index.php?action=artikel&cat=1&id=1119&artlang=en&highlight=53
There's an update from 5.2 to 5.3, then 5.3 to 5.3 SP1, and an agent upgrade.

Yes, this is the official release. I was on the phone with support yesterday about a separate issue and asked about it. He stated that this release fixes the major issues that some users had with the previous 5.3 release that wasn't available to all users.

Make sure you have a good test plan in place before you roll it out to all of your computers. I got burned by aggressivley updating agents to 5.3. There are a lot of bugs and the agent uses more resources to run an inventory. I have not applied the service pack. Possibly this week.

Support has been pretty decent, but they are still learning the new agent as it was a complete re-write.

We've applied the service pack and have deployed to over 2600 machines so far. This fixed our last hurdle which was the runas functionality for the scripting. The biggest surprise is that all of the files moved from where you were used to them being.

yes our company is having the same issue.
