Active Directory User Authentication on K2000 and PETemp Rights
Is there a simple way to allow an AD group view only admin access to the K2000 AND access to manipulate files on the PETemp directory? Or better yet, is it possible to allow that AD group only write access to the PEtemp directory?
I'm going to be limiting access of our technicians to the K2000, and really wouldn't mind them not able to see anything on the admin side of things all together, but we use PortableApps in the petemp directory and I need them to keep the ability to update stuff like ClamWin virus definitions within PortableApps. Is there a simple way to do it?

The password for PETemp is the same as your Driver Share and is separate from your local/ldap account access to the K2000 UI. So you could change the driver share password to something more secure and not hand it out. However, that would prevent any of your technicians from uploading source media and new KBEs. Also, once they have booted into a KBE they would have rights to write to that share, since the KBE itself authenticates to the shares.
You only have 2 choices for user security admin or read-only admin

the petemp dir is controlled by the user admin/share password. They do not need an account on the box to access the share from a file level just that account and pw - SMal.tmcc 11 years ago
