amp.conf - dynamically change splashtext?
I know this type of question has been asked before, but I’m asking again…
Does anyone know of a way to dynamically change the ‘splashtext’ line in the amp.conf file? I would like to pass a variable or other text to the end user to let them know what is installing during a Managed Install.
Example: If the client needs Java, Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash, and Winzip all the user sees currently is “Please wait while your computer is updated…â€Â. It would be nice to have KACE pass along what is being installed so the end user doesn’t think their computer is froze – kind of like a progress bar or something.
Also, does anyone know if this has been requested as a feature? If not I’ll put a feature request in.
Thanks,
Dave

Dave,
I don't know if there is a current Feature Request on kace.uservoice.com for this. Nor do I think you can put any sort of "variable" in that splash text, because it is probably running client-side and wouldn't have access to the KBox DB to populate such a variable. Also, that message could display during functions other than Managed Installations, which complicates it further. r2
