App-V and Thin App licensing
Need to know the licesning difference in Thin App and App-v.How is licensing managed for App-V Sequencer.Do we have a license for every application we sequence using sequencer and how do we manage licenses during deployment/streaming.Is it per device/per user/corcurrent licensing.
For Thin app also do we have a license for each application that we package and what about concurrent licensing. If I have 100 desktops.I need 5 new applications.I package these 5 apps using Thin App.Now I pay for Thin app licensing, also I pay for each app being packages using Thin App + the app licensing is also there.
For deployment, again there is per device licensing involved.Correct me If I am wrong.

For App-V you need to buy a MDOP license, in 2012 the price of a mdop license was $49 per computer per year.
ThinApp does have three licensing options:
- per endpoint
- per concurrent user
- per named user
the costs for a suite is aprox $3500 - $4000 (what you get is: 1 virtualisation site, 1 Workstation, 50 clients).
you dont pay for the software you want to virtualize, just for the amount of endpoints/users you will deploy them to.

Thanks for that information....so in App-V it is just for the MDOP we pay....n that is all...so it is per endpoint licensing in App-v as well...what about sequencer...if i dnt require the complete suite..can i just go for App-v Sequencer - deepali 11 years ago

no, the App-V suite isnt availble in seperate modules... the only way to obtain the sequencer is by buying the MDOP (which includes App-V, Med-V, UE-V and some more software) - anonymous_89761 11 years ago
