Deploy agent to dummy KACE
Hi All,
Kind of a strange question. I want to deploy an agent to my workstations through gpo. These agents should be fully functional, but NOT communicate with the central server (so point to a dummy). When its time to go-live I want to reconfig the clients to the central server by a script or something like that. Has anyone ever done something like this? Or any tips/tricks?
So I do a gpo distribution with this msi: ampagent-5.3.47173-x86_k1000.test.local but after xxxx time the agent should point to k1000.company.com
Hope the question is clear and that someone has any info about this.
Cheers.

yeah..I would not do that at all. You can't just create a script to do it, well you can but it doesn't work very smoothly at times going into the config files (after stopping services) changing them around and starting the services again.
You want to set it up correctly but in dns point to the different IP address. The KBOX doesn't add itself to DNS so you can go in create a record, wrong IP ...etc. When you are ready go back to DNS and set it up with the correct IP for forward and reverse.
You should always set the agent with the correct DNS name.
