Deploy Staged Windows 10 Feature Updates

Hi, I can see in KACE SMA 10.2+ that feature updates can now be deployed natively.

I see 2 options, which are also the only ones listed in the documentation:

  • Detect and Stage, which detects then downloads the files to the client for deployment.
  • Detect and Deploy, which detects, downloads and installs the patch to the client.

Is there a way to just deploy the existing staged update if using the Detect and Stage?

Does Detect and Deploy do this, or does Detect and Deploy re-download the Feature Update to the client again before deploying it, or is Detect and Deploy smart enough to use and deploy the existing staged FU?

The docos keep saying to refer to the normal patch schedule info but normal patch schedules also have a standalone Deploy option (which I can't see in the FU area).

From our tests it looks like "Detect and Deploy" will check for staged updates and not re-download them.

  • Sorry to revive this old thread.. but can KACE or someone confirm this with 11.1 oer 12? Also, if we run a detect/stage and then a deploy and there are dependencies will the device restart a 2nd time to install the last patch? I seem to be reading contradicting answers to this. I have a ticket open but it all depends on who I get as to what answer I will get.

Im doing some testing myself but these are servers and dont like messing around much with servers. - barchetta 2 years ago
