Deploying an image to a remote PC

Hello All,

I am looking for information on how to deploy an image from the K2000 to a remote PC.  Currently when we image we PXE Boot from the physical machine we intend to image.  This time I would like to to push out the image from our central location to one of our Library Branches PC's.  It appears all I have to do is the following to make this work:

Click on the image I wish to deploy from the K2100

Click "Deploy this image to a system"

Enter the Mac address of the desired PC we wish to image

and click Next.

Now I have not tried this yet for the fear that if I need to do anything else before I deploy the image it could image the wrong machine on our network causing inconvenince for our staff and more work on my end.  If there is a better way to go about doing this I would love to find out how!

thanks in advance!

That essentially does the same thing but the other option is to find the machine in the System Inventory > and choose Set Boot Actions for this System. From there you can choose your image to deploy and the next PXE boot will depoy it. At least this way you confirm the machine in question a bit more (you could verify MAC, IP, make, model, etc) but praying always helps...

  • Thanks for the information on imaging, so as long as the PXE boot is set on the PC were good to go

    • FYI, also I recommend to update machine Bios before imaging, we had many issues when machine has an older bios version. It would save you many head aches. - josefino 11 years ago
