Duplicate Names

Hello,

We are currently on the latest build of 5.5.  We are having an issue where machines are just stopping their check in and are creating new entries into KACE.  Causing some names to get into the system 7 or more times. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but it still happens.  Any ideas as to why this would keep recreating a KACE Entry into the system.  It's eating up my licenses.

Thanks
Brian

  • I have seen this when the machines check in with different types of connections, Lan, wireless...etc.

sometimes it changes the KUID and the KBOX thinks its a different system. You might want to see within each one which adapter is getting the IP. that might indicate why duplicates are coming in.

As for a fix, I don't know if there is one. KACE does its best to see if it is the same machine. - nshah 10 years ago

I'm not sure why the computers are making duplicate entries although I do have a couple of machines that do this. In order to help keep my license count down I have  a scheduled report that comes out every Monday morning showing me duplicates and we go through and delete them.

Hello,

Yeah i'm currently running a report to show me the duplicate names.  Just a pain.  I wish i knew why it did this.  I mean sometimes i have the same 1 computer 7 times in the system.  I see that it keeps changing the Identifier on the computer so maybe that's why but i'm not sure why that's happening.
