E-mail settings with K1000
I'm having a very difficult time understanding why something as simple as setting up an e-mail to use for sending and receiving help desk tickets is so difficult on the kbox. I've spent hours fighting with this issue and hope to get some advice. after spending almost 2 hours on the phone today with support we were finally able to get incoming emails through a pop3 connection on my hosted exchange to come through and open a help desk ticket. the e-mail address I'm using for incoming is servicedesk@isucu.net Apparently for out going messages this email changes to servicedesk@kace.isucu.net (why I have no idea) So my hosted exchange provider will not send from this address. Below is the results of doing the troubleshooting of "sending email" from my kbox. If I can't get outgoing mail working it really defeats the purpose of why I wanted to use the kbox for it's help desk features. If anyone has had any similar experiences and figured it out I would be forever in your debt!! thank you!!

It looks like your hosted exchange server requires authentication:
MAIL FROM:<servicedesk@kace.isucu.net>
SIZE=1436 SMTP>>
RCPT TO:<cspidell@isucu.net>
SMTP>>
DATA SMTP<< 530 5.7.1 Client was not authenticated
SMTP>>
QUIT

As Scottlutz indicated it looks like an authentication issue. KBOX uses anonymous login or setting up POP as you did. Second on the outbound email, make sure you have under your helpdesk queue, the alternate email filled in, that is the outbound alias the KBOX will use for it's email. With hosted there is always some issues as you aren't controlling the box and are working with their requirements.
It does work with POP and support will definitely get it working for you but takes a bit longer working out the issues based on your email hosting provider.

Hi Casey,
So you are using pop3 to retrieve your email?
To have the K1000 send email, looks like you will need to setup a smtp relay. You can use something like Win2008.
Since the hosted exchange server is requesting authentication.
Can you provide screenshots of the helpdesk queue configuration showing the primary and alternate email address being used.
Also ascreenshot of what you have selected in the network settings in regards to email options.
