I can see that that might be helpful if you didn't know the company name, but remembered what letter it started with? Is there another use case? Right now you can see all entries belonging to one company by clicking on any company name in the Package KB. For example: Macromedia: http://www.appdeploy.com/packages/browse.asp?cat=company&name=Macromedia
I'm definitely open to ways it may be improved!

The problem I often have is that I know the vendor, but the person posted the info under the wrong application name. Also, some apps go by multiple names. Currently, I find a vendor by trying to find out something else they've made (sometimes they only make one app), then clicking on the vendor name to get the list you linked above.
This isn't an issue for Macromedia, but the more obscure ones make searching the KB harder.
