How do I import a WIM file into the K2000 imagestore?
I have a test WIM file from ImageDirect to audit, but I am having problems importing it into the K2000. This WIM is currently not on a physical machine to be imported through KNIT. Speaking with support they told me to copy the WIM into the imagestore manually.
After doing so, I put the WIM into a image template like the rest of my WIM images and deployed it to a machine. But I get an error during the imaging process when it tries to apply the WIM: "There is an error in that no data is found that coorelates to an OS". The WIM file is 10GB so I know its not empty.
Has anyone else run into this or know of a workaround?
Thanks

is this a windows 7 wim?
are you using the right template (32 vs 64).
you do not need to import them, you can store them on a windows share also

This is a 32 bit Windows 7 WIM - sdnbtech1 12 years ago

Still get the same error message when I redirect to a different share with WIM file on it. - sdnbtech1 12 years ago

I have seen that error when the WIM capture was interrupted or for some reason just didn't work, any chance you could try recapturing? - nheyne 12 years ago

I'm pulling the image from ImageDirect again as I right this just in case. ***EDIT for update*** Still a no go with the second download - sdnbtech1 12 years ago

can you mount the image on the workstation using imagex.exe? you should be able to open and browse it.

A good test to ensure it isnt a problem with your KBox is to put it into a WDS and try to deploy with that. SMal is also bang on the mark with testing to see if you can even browse it.
Let us know what happens after you pull it down again, it sounds like a Wim corruption either pre or post capture. - Roonerspism 12 years ago -
I am able to mount the image using imageX with no problems and the folder directories are in place. - sdnbtech1 12 years ago

is this a 32 or 64 bit wim?
do you have another deployment that works that uses a wim of the same os version? - SMal.tmcc 12 years ago -
This is a 64bit WIM, i have other 64bit WIMs that work. - sdnbtech1 12 years ago

if you duplicate a working 64 bit deployment and change the wim name in the deploy does that work? - SMal.tmcc 12 years ago

I will try that suggestion, thanks - sdnbtech1 12 years ago

that will help narrow down the source of your problem (wim vs deployment) - SMal.tmcc 12 years ago
What are your preinstall tasks?

I have two preinstall tasks:
Create single aligned partition
Format C:\ as NTFS - sdnbtech1 12 years ago -
That error comes from the driverfeed midlevel workaround task. This task needs to come after the apply .wim task, you must have it before it.

Corey, have three midlevel tasks, the 3 WIM tasks in proper order followed by the Driver Feed install. - sdnbtech1 12 years ago

OK, the error you indicate in your question is the exact error that comes from driver feed workaround mid level task. Is your image sysprepped? This message is typical when the image is not sysprepped or the sysprep file can't be found. Typically after sysprepping a Windows 7 machine, the unattend.xml should be in %systemdrive%\windows\panther.

Corey, I don't know if Dell's ImageDirect service syspreps the image before creating a WIM file. I will have to mount the WIM and check the panther directory. thank you for the suggestion - sdnbtech1 12 years ago

when you mount the image you can also open the offline registry wimpath\Windows\System32\config\system under hklm and check the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Setup key
open regedit and highlight hklm and from the top menu choose file - load hive browse to the system hive of the wim and give a name such as wim when you open. Note make sure you unload the hive when done.
If you see a multi-string name of CloneTag then you know its been sysprepped - SMal.tmcc 12 years ago
