Is there a way to arvhive a device in the SMA from the endpoint?

I have the basics of archiving from our K1000.  I would really like to find a way to start the archiving process from the endpoint itself.  As we cycle quite a few machines each year out of service due to warranty exp or damage it would be nice to be able to maybe uninstall the Kace agent with a switch that can start the archive process.  I know there are switches to remove the KUID but this alone will not help as it orphans the device in the Kace DB.  Anyone have any experience working in this direction?   Another option i have come up with is to have an ability to change the location of the device from a command.  We always batch out our archived devices by setting the location to a "Ready to Archive" state.  This allows us to select all devices in that location and choose to archive them at once.

Please let me know any ideas you may have and thanks!

At this time, there is not a Agent command option that would allow you to Archive a device from the endpoint.

You may want to submit a feature request here.

If you know that you are removing a device from inventory, I would suggest you set the asset status to a specific value, indicating that it needs to be archived. You may be able to create a ticket rule that then sets the archive process in motion without any interaction.

The danger is that having any process like this may mean that pressing the wrong button will mean records are archived by mistake.
