K1000 Agent: Is it possible to update my agent between certain hours. (upgrade, 5.3)
Hello,
I am looking for a way to use the 'Agent Updates from KACE' feature to deploy agent updates between 11:00 PM and 3:00 AM in the timezone that the agent lives in.
Backstory: all of the systems we manage are customer facing all the time. We can't have our computers doing anything unexpected at a time when customers could possibly see something unexpected happening. There's a slight misconception that it's possible that upgrading the KACE agent is likely to cause something like an unexpected popup to appear, and it's really difficult to convince (and to be fair even hard for me to believe) that there is no way a popup is not going to appear the KACE agent tries to update itself especially when your talking about 1000+ systems being updated.
How do I deploy an agent update at a certain time of the day? Is it possible to do using the 'Agent updates from KACE' feature?
Info:
Server version: 5.3.53053
Agent Version: 5.1.38724 (upgrading to 5.3.53177)

this feature is not implemented.
But you can run provisioning jobs for some machines at the same time (if you do this with too much systems, your box may be overrun)
I suggest the default update function as it is only updating if an agent does an inventory task.

Some time (whenever the sdlc of KACE permits of course :) ) you should consider implementing that feature in the 'Agent Updates from KACE' I feel like other people besides us would also appreciate being able to control when certain groups or all groups go to the server to download the upgrade. - jobla 11 years ago

You can currently implement this for individual labels. We add our test labels first, then PROD later. It's just the timing that will get you. - dugullett 11 years ago
