K2000 3.4v
Has it been released? I know it was due on 1/31/12, but my kbox does not show it nor the download page.

Ended up having to completely wipe our K2000 and re-import the backups we had. KACE support sent us the full ISO, since the K2000 became corrupted during the update process.
All up and running again. Although, I'd like to see a safeguard put in place for future updates. Not checking for sufficient disk space prior to updating seems a little poor. The system partition was full, which is something not easily noticed. The pie chart built into the UI only shows the data partition - so I was not aware until the update put out error messages in the logs.

You can request access to the beta from tech support if you want access to it earlier, we requested it and it works great, the improved Driver feed for scripted installs is great. We have been testing the Native Imaging Toolkit and off-board storage with great success. We did have an issue during the upgrade but support worked thru that issue very quickly, I'm wondering if those are not some of the reasons for the delay. 3.4 so far has been a huge improvement and suggest everyone upgrade to it once it's released.

The release was postponed, but will be out shortly (new date given is Feb. 15th). A good time to remind everyone though, even when it is released, KACE does a slow rollout. That means that all K2000's will NOT see the update. We flip the bit on a number of machines per night to avoid any mass issue that could occur during an update. Of course, this is for your protection. Before working for KACE I thought it to be a bit silly, but quickly understood the reasoning. Now, working for support I understand even better why we have this policy. Remember however, that the update will be available as a download on our website for anyone to update if they choose.
Jscribner, glad you are enjoying the native imaging toolkit, much hard work went into that!! I'm sure it is much easier to use now that you have your synology dsm offboard storage!!!

Go to the downloads page and authenticate with your kace credentials, then go to this link
http://downloads.kace.com/support/customer/release/K2000/3.4.54256/k2000_upgrade_3.4.54256.bin
sssssh, it wasn't me ;)
Seriously, the pages are being synced, but the downloads page isn't showing it yet, but the file is there. Go for it.

How long does it usually take for the upgrade to complete? I started mine earlier and it ran for over an hour without completing.

Ours is still upgrading after 2 hours 30 mins. We're using the inbuilt upgrade feature, not the BIN download.
Hoping all is OK. Last time we upgraded to a major release, took around 30-40 minutes. Not much has changed since then either.
Will re-post once it's failed/succeeded :P
EDIT:
Well it seems to have failed. After 15 hours, it stopped refreshing - and has not booted back up. Unable to access the web interface.
Error messages in the K2000 daily run output are showing "+pid 55612 (mysqld), uid 88 inumber 424011 on /kbox: filesystem full"
We were only using 52% according to the pie chart, before upgrading.
Will have to wait until I can get to physical access on Monday, before I know any further details.

I would suggest opening a ticket with support before you proceed any further they should be able to help you resolve your issue. I had a similar issue when updating to the 3.4 beta release, and support was able to quickly resolve the issue. On a side note my upgrade from 3.4 beta to 3.4 GA went fine and the upgrade only took about 30 minutes.

Thank you for posting a link to the K2000 3.4 Release Notes!
One question from the release notes, how do I get the Native Imaging Toolkit? I've seen it mentioned several other places but I have not found a reference to it in the 3.4 Administrator's Guide or in the KACE downloads.
I don't believe that it is quite out yet, Should be sometime this week or next.

Glad to hear you got it working, I agree there should be safeguards in place, good thing you had backups. The new driver feed, Native Image Toolkit, and Offboard storage all make the upgrade worth while. Being new to the forum make sure you come back when you run into road blocks (The KACE appliances are very powerful but can sometimes it can be tough to get them to do what you want them too), there are many great guys here that can help you out. We've had our K2 for about 8 months and the members of this this forum have been a great resource for us.

Hello,

I had the same issue applying the 3.4 update (full file system partition) and the system hung during the process. Support was very responsive and helpful but it took a few days to get it all back up and running 100%. We didn't have to revert to a full restore and had no data loss. Agreed there should be a pre-update check for sufficient space prior to updating. All patched up and back in production now though! Yay.
The daily run output emails do show Disk Status so you could check for avail disk space there. Also if you have an SNMP utility monitoring your kbox you could also get the info there as well.

Applied the update to my k2000 and it has been running for 45 minutes. I can ping the box but I can't load the k2000:52231/upgrade page (Page cannot be displayed) or the k2000/admin page (I get an HTTP 500 Internal Server Error). I tried calling support but got someone who didn't know KACE and asked to take my number so they could call me back. I'll check status of the k2000 and or try support again in the morning. I hope it's nothing serious. I'll post a result.
