K2000 - Disaster Recovery

Guys

I need to DR protect my K2000. Has any one got any guidelines on how to go about doing this? I have a huge amount of pre and post install jobs, scripted installs etc and I don't want to lose all this in the event of a error with my K2000 or my building goes down.

Our K2000 is virtual and we use VMware SRM and ABR on our Dell Compellent to our DR site.  We can bring it and our K1000 up in a matter of minutes with all of our scripts intact.

Once a month I export all the necessary packages (Settings > Package Management > Export K2000 Packages). I then have an off-board package transfer set up on a regular schedule to move those packages to another server. I clean that share up monthly as well. You could adjust something similar to fit your needs...

  • Thanks Jegolf
Is it then a "kace" of importing the packages on to a K2000 dr server? - TheFergie101 10 years ago
    • Zing! Right - if your K2 had to be rebuilt or replaced you could then upload and import your packages back in... - jegolf 10 years ago
