k2000 System Deployment Question

Hello,

We recently installed our K2000 system and are anxiously awaiting to use it. In reading the documentation I was a bit thrown off how how exactly the best way to go about deployment for our needs. It looks like setting up specific images for deployement is a little closed off, while setting up a scripted installation to have it process installations off of a clean windows 7 image, and then follow up with setting up DNS settings, Static IP, joining domain, installing additional software and drivers may be more efficent. More of wanting feedback on what you guys believe the best way to go about this is. We use a bunch of different Dell Optiplex's running Windows 7, and each system is set up with different tools depending on what that employee's job is. Would it be easier to customize with a scripted installation instead of a deploying a system image?

We have a base Win 7 system image (WIM). When we create a new image we duplicate it, and then add the necessary post install tasks. Give it a new name, and save it.

Scripted will do the same. I just prefer system images.

Comments:
  • Well, I prefer Scripted Installs as they feel "freshly installed".
The dedicated software installs will be done via K1000 if you have one. - Nico_K 11 years ago
