KACE SDA on Azure?
Our company is contemplating moving some of our smaller offices to Azure. One of our biggest concerns was our SDA RSAs. We've obviously been using virtual servers on a small server. I've been looking around, but haven't seen anything about anyone imaging through Azure.
Has anyone tried it, and is it possible?

my personal thoughts: just don't do it.
why? the main RSA feature is to speed up the deployment by having all nessesary files in the local network on the remote location.
If you setup a RSA in a Azure you have it again somewhere else where the usually big amounts of data need to flow to the remote office. You can use the main SDA for the same function ans save money for Azure with all the same effects.
I would keep a small server with basic functionality on each remote site (speaking from KACE view Repl share and RSA)
but again: the main concern against the idea is the flow of data to the end point.

Thank you. I figured as much. I know the big catch with Azure is the amount of data used on pricing. The thing about this site at least is that they rarely use the RSA. I'm guessing maybe a couple of times a year if that. Would that qualify needing a server there? My guess is no. I figured that I could just keep the current RSA there until the server dies and then figure out what to do past that.

as usual it is indidivdual. But as I wrote: if you image the system the 10 or 20GB of the image need to flow through the WAN connection to the remote location. In this time nothing else can be downloaded from any person there.
And the repl share for the SMA: if your 5 clients on the remote location need to install a nice update of Adobe Software or OS WFU, then the line is also full.
This is, what you need to keep in mind. If the lines are big enough they can be handled from the main SDA, since the problem is the connection which is small (compared to a LAN connection) between two locations and a location and Azure. - Nico_K 2 years ago
