Kbox Server 5.3 Observations and problmes
Hi,
i am sharing some observations with Kbox version 5.347927 and Agent 5.347657 and would appreciate your comments.
1. I have created a custom inventory rule to show the USB Status (3-enabled, 4-disabled ) However it is not working. I dont know how to get Numeric values. I followed the instructions and examples on Kbox management interface, but success.
2. Report generation format (only three options for exporting results) PDF is not there.
3. Scripting Run now log status not updating
4. When we Disable USB using the script some time it updates the Registry key type from 'RG_Dword' to 'RG_SZ' causing device enabling/disabling problem.
5. ‘Run on logon’ option on the scripts is not working

1. Can you post your CI rule here?
2. PDF as a format is on the road map, but due to the change of reporting engine, it was removed.. Feel free to vote it up on Uservoice:

3. It updates on mine. Does your not ever update, or is it just taking a long time?
4 & 5. Have you raised these with Support?

I would imagine #4 and #5 may be resolved by the upcoming patch (currently overdue... I was told release would be Feb. 8th) for 5.3.

Last I heard Andy was that tomorrow was the new target release, though I can't commit to this since my update is from 10 days ago...

3. Scripting Run now log status not updating
This is a known issue if you are using a replication share. The Scripting Logs are updating properly inside the computer record but the Run Now Status doesn't show completion of the script. This is scheduled to be fixed in the "Early February" patch release.

PDF is still available as an output format using Classic Reporting. I don't know how long that will be supported but right now both Classic Reports and the new method under Reports are both working for me. Perhaps that is because I had reports created by the older wizard when upgrading to 5.3.

This is true; if your appliance was upgraded from 5.2 or below then it will continue to support the old wizard for the time being. At some point that will be removed though so it's better long term to vote up the request if PDF is a necessary format. At some point we'll lose the old report engine. I don't have a date on that of course, but I'm personally not building any new reports in it and working to migrate my custom stuff to the new wizard.

I've seen a couple of threads on #3 in thse forums; worth reporting to support so we can start gathering data if it's a bug. It definitely doesn't happen everywhere- most customers are experiencing reporting as designed.

3. Yeh , We are using Replication Shares, However Scripting Run Now status is also not updating on Local Machines , those not the part of any replication share.
4 &5. I have created a support ticket for this.

The new versions are out. You might want to check them out to see about issue resolution.
