I apologize if my question is not clear. Actually what I want to ask is: I have 2 vitual machines, I installed them in each virtual machine with agent kace version 8.0, but why manage only one virtual machine

Comments:
  • I always recommend not having the agent as part of your Golden Images\Templates...

I mean you could install it without the KUID.txt I guess.... but remember to do so...

If you duplicate\clone machines with the agent installer, you are duplicating the KUID as well, it will cause confusion to the SMA - Channeler 5 years ago
  • The kuid is generated during install. if you installed it and then cloned the vm it will have the same kuid. On you vm masters do not install the client. if you do to push things. remove it using amptools and use the all-kuid switch to remove the id prior to sysprep. On your 2 vm's you want to check that the kuid is unique.
I would also make sure they do not have same MAC for the virtual nic and different names - SMal.tmcc 5 years ago

Thank you for the info. I have done the steps below, but still have not succeeded: 1. Uninstall KACE agent version 8.0 2. Run the net stop amptools command via the command line and delete the KUID.txt file 3. Reinstall KACE agent version 8.0 What other steps is lacking?

Comments:
  • Remove the client using "amptools uninstall all-kuid" form both vm's
Delete the bad object out of the SMA.
    Remove the programdata\quest\kace directory
reinstall the msi on both and use host=kbox.domain.com switch when you call the msi
    Example: msiexec /qn /i ampagent-9.1.204-x86.msi HOST=kbox.acme.com - SMal.tmcc 5 years ago
  • note: if you have multiple orgs on your kbox, check the system org area "devices" and make sure the other did not get stuck in a different org - SMal.tmcc 5 years ago

Where is the contents of kuid.txt taken from ?

Comments:
  • That file is generated during install and not remove automatically during uninstall.

Not being rude just want to make sure I understand what you need

Not sure of what you mean by "where is contents taken from". To me that would translate to you are looking for the path. that is in first answer. If you mean something else please give more detail. - SMal.tmcc 5 years ago
