Mac netboot image not opening as it should. What am I missing?
I created a netboot environment for Mac OSx 10.7 from the installer off of the apple store from a 10.7.3 Lion Mac. Was finally able to successfully upload to the kace by changing the date of the computer previous to March 21. I run the MAC in verbose mode while booting to the kace and it finds the kace and says it is loading the netboot image.
It goes back to a white screen, then appears to hang after that. What am I missing?

If the machine is netbooting across subnets and it has the newest apple efi firmware (2.2) which allows network recovery from Apple's servers then it won't work. It appears that a lot of people are seeing this problem. If you're not booting across subnets then it's not a firmware issue. Hopefully this will at least remove a variable from your troubleshooting.

Just spoke to the Kace Management and Developer Team. They do not fully support netbooting across subnets using iphelper. They also do NOT have it in the que for a future feature release. They believe that using an RSA on every vlan is adequate. The only way they will consider this important is based on votes. I found out we have to vote on things like this. I can't believe they consider booting outside of your imaging servers vlan as a "feature". Oh well, it's their rules, we just pay for them....

Without the votes, it WILL NOT happen. - lkalis 11 years ago
