Multiple Select Help Desk Custom Fields

The operation of custom fields with the multiple select type seems a little confusing. After selecting multiple items it is very easy to accidentally click within the selection box and lose everything previously selected. Additionally, when there's a long list of choices it's difficult to see which items have been selected.

Is this the intended operation of the field? The behavior I expected would be that once saved the selected items would appear in a text box with an available edit control should changes need to be made.

Other than telling users to be careful is there any way to protect the entries?

Yep. But I think your idea of "locking" the choices in a non-editable field with an edit link is a great idea too.

You can set the field to User Create. This would allow them to choose the values initially, but they would not be able to modify them after creation.

If you hit "cancel" button then the values from the last time you loaded that page will be restored.

And if they did make a mistake their latest change description will show what change they made so they can fix it.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
