Newbie driver feed question
In our JumpStart session for the K2000, our trainer had us manually copy a set of KBE drivers in to the K2000 share. This is all working fine, but I have a few questions:
1. Could we have done exactly the same thing by NOT copying the drivers, but turning on the KBE driver feed?
2. Would turning on the driver feed keep the drivers up to date (compared to the manual drivers getting out of date)?
3. If I turn on the Dell Optiplex 780 driver feed (to have a few missing drivers installed), will these drivers conflict with the drivers on the Windows 7 DVD?
I'm kind of hoping that I can delete the manual drivers, turn on the KBE and Optiplex driver feeds and everything will work and stay up to date.
Thanks,
Ben

1. Essentially, yes. However, the ones you inserted manually have been tested by other customers and is released by support. By using this, you already have driver conflicts removed, which there are if you use just the driver feed for PE. Also, you need the Kace directory for KBE if you want to pxe vmware.
2. Yes
3. Make sure you have the driver patch installed, this eliminates the conflict with the win7 DVD. Also, see the post on the driver feed workaround to use these drivers to their full potential.

This isn't the switch it on and forget about it solution I was hoping for.
To be honest, the manually copied set of KBE drivers work fine, so I'm reluctant to make the change and start having conflicts.
I'm now also reluctant to turn on the Optiplex drivers. The Windows 7 DVD drivers are mostly fine apart from a single missing AMT SOL/ LMS driver, which I'm guessing I can manually add pretty easily. As a side note, it's a shame that the K1000 won't install missing drivers as part of the Dell Updates (it only seems to update drivers).
Thanks for the information.
