Patching Issues

Hi there, i'm trying to figure out why windows patching seems to be a bit broken!

I've subscribed to patches for both win7 sp0 and win7 sp1, i've created a label for windows 7 critical patches and this lists all the current critical patches.

I've set up a detect for all of our machines but the results seem to be different depending if the machine has service pack 1 installed or not.

For example if we take patch KB2579686 windows updates tells me a machine with service pack 1 installed needs it, but Kace says it does not, however kace does say a machine without service pack 1 installed does need it.

If we go in to the patch in Kace then it lists all the machines that have that patch and those that don't have it installed, but it seems to be missing all the win7 service pack 1 machines.

Is this because in the patch in kace it says under the subscription that it's for win 7 sp0? if you subscribe to win 7sp0 patches, will none of these patches be installed on win7 sp1 machines?

I've subscribed to win 7sp1 patches as well but the latest batch seem to only be for win7 sp0

Help!

It may not be in our patch feed yet -- i'm not sure if it's been out for 48 hours yet. It might be in for sp0 but not sp1.

I also see in their own bulletin that MS lists it for service pack 1 in one place but not in another.

Or it could be our problem. I suggest you open a ticket for this.
