Post Install rename/join not working as designed
hi all,
****************
Tested on a Dell D430 laptop
K2000 3.3.47466
****************
following my original thread - http://itninja.com/question/outlook-profile713, I have started making some tests in an XP image. My first attempt was to change machine name & join domain. According to this KACE KB - http://www.kace.com/support/kb/index.php?action=artikel&cat=54&id=763&artlang=en, I've made the following changes (in bold and size 2 font):
File: 1_wsname_x86.bat
reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" /v AutoAdminLogon /t REG_SZ /d 1 /f
reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" /v DefaultUserName /t REG_SZ /dmyadministratoraccount /f
reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" /v DefaultPassword /t REG_SZ /dmyadminpassword /f
reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" /v DefaultDomainName /t REG_SZ /d localhost /f
c:\source\wsname.exe /N:$SERIALNUM /Logfile:C:\wsname.txt
reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce" /v V1 /t REG_SZ /d "CMD /C \"C:\source\2_JoinDomain_x86.bat\"" /f
shutdown -r -t5
********************************************
File: 2_JoinDomain_x86.bat
C:\source\Join_Domain.vbsmydomainname joinuseraccount joinuserpassword DNS-IP-ADDRESS
reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" /v AutoAdminLogon /t REG_SZ /d 0 /f
reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" /v DefaultUserName /t REG_SZ /d <NULL> /f
reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" /v DefaultPassword /t REG_SZ /d <NULL> /f
reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce" /v V1 /t REG_SZ /d "CMD /C \"rd /s /q C:\source\""
shutdown -r -t5
File 1_wsname_x86.bat runs okish as it renames the machine with SERIALNUM value; however I believe it does not set the last reg key as file 2_JoinDomain_x86.bat is not called after reboot (maybe I have to up AutoLogonCount to greater than 3 ????)
Other behaviour is that the asset registered on K2000 points to a random name rather than the SERIALNUM
Help/comments are much appreciated...

post installation tasks:
Install .NET 1.1
Install .NET 2
NameJoinDomain
McAfee Agent 4.5
Kbox 1000 Agent 5.1.33
However no joy in joining domain....
winlogon key attached
Dir "source" is still under root of C:\ and has not been deleted.
The join account credentials are valid as I've tested on another machine.
Still unsure why it is not joining domain.
I will try to run this deployment on a desktop too.
Cheers
