Restore settings from Trial Kbox
Our company just got our new K1100 on Tuesday. We have been using a trial kbox in a virtual machine for the last 30 days and I have made a lot of custom reports, assets, LDAP, and labels that I really don't want to have to recreate. I noticed that in settings -> Backup and Restore there is the option to do a restore and it then asks for a .tgz and a .gz file. I have copied these two files from our Virtual kbox and uploaded them to the new K1100 and click restore and nothing ever happens. It says the system is going to reboot but never really does (watching the ping results with -t and it never drops it's connection) and I log back into admin and everything is still the same as it was right out of box with none of my custom changes from the trial. So I don't even think the restore is working. Am I even doing it the right way?? Thanks for the help!

The first thing you need to do in order to "restore" your shiny new box to the config of your trial is to ensure that they are both running the same version of the K1000 server software. You can verify this by scrolling to the bottom of any page and clicking the "About K1000" link in the lower left.
Are they both on the same version? If not let me know, and I can advise how to get the latest version.
HTH,
Scott

I have similar situation trying to restore functional gz and tgz, , nearly identical symptoms
-------------------------------------------
I have a VK1000 running on a laptop, with 5.5.90545. That had a copy of our DBases from production rack mount. K1000 that I started with.
I loaded databases, upgraded OS on laptop from 5.1 x to 5.5.90545. running fine on the LDAp, etc, no issues.
------------------------------------------
I FTP'd the files from the source ( laptop) to a temp location, and then FTP'd them in binary mode to our target , the shiny new VK1000 running on VMware server (4.2 with Vsphere)
Same symptom, the files show up, I can select them, but the VK1000 target machine just sits there, won't reboot, and won't load them up
I know there's a hotfix beyond 5.5.90545 will give that a try later,
Any other ideas *very* much appreciated. !!!!
