Smart Labels - slow to populate

When I create a new smartlabel, then press 'test smart label', I immediately see the results of that smart label. My issue is that when I actually 'create smart label', then in inventory I 'View by:' the new label name, it will take a long time to fully populate the new label. When I say 'a long time', I mean at least an hour or longer. Is this normal behavior?

Computer invenotry Smart labels are evalauted on a machine-by-machine basis when the machine performs a check-in. To test one force a check-in

  • wow, that's why I have been having issues running reports with my new smart labels and there are systems missing. Thanks! - joe.pyrczak 11 years ago
    • Also, the label itself won't show up in inventory until at least one machine has checked in that meets the label description. Good things to know! - Ultimation 11 years ago
  • Hi Team,

Sorry I know this is an old question but I wanted to know if it is possible to create a smart label that just queries the database on the K1000. We've noticed when we go to create a smart label and test it all of our applicable machines appear (depending on variables entered) however when we save it, it displays nothing until the machines next check in.

Can we bypass the check in and just use the K1000 database instead? We have a lot of remote technicians and would prefer to be able to pre-assign their machines to smart labels rather than relying on them coming into the office just to have it applied.

    • I apologise for the bump, pressure from management. Cheers :) - cdalley 11 years ago
  • what you can do is: 1) manually create the label first 2) enter your search criteria in the "create smart label" area or the "advanced search area" 3) click on "search / test" 4) for all the results returned click the checkboxes on the left (top checkbox selects all 5) use "choose action" -> "apply label" and apply the label you created in step 1. 5) optionally convert that into a smart label by entering your smart label critieria, selecting this label from the dropdown and clicking save - GillySpy 11 years ago
