SMS notifications

is there any built in way of creating SMS notifications for different alerts or events, or would we need some kind of third party phone modem?

create them for what?

Comments:
  • for example-if a particular server doesnt check in for x number of hours, or if some machines do not complete their wake on lan, can the Kace box send a text message indicating which machines were involved in the incident. In other words, can the Kace box notify us that something may be wrong by any other means that email. - dkurz8814 12 years ago
  • We are using SCOM with SMS for our alerts. Not sure on kace, but I did have a Novell server that would only do emails and I put in my cell phone in the email and that worked fine as an example 5555551212@vtext.com or 5555551212@txt.att.net, someone with more knowledge on Kace and sms hopefully should comment. At least the additional info will give them the details to answer what you are looking for - SMal.tmcc 12 years ago

What SMal is saying will work.  You can add an address like that into an email field and have it send the email as a text.

Here's a fairly complete list of SMS gateways: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_SMS_gateways
