Software Inventory
When looking at the Software tab under the Inventory category, I have over 4000 software titles that have 0 computers. Is there a way to automatically purge software from inventory if there are no computers assigned?

There is now way to do this today. An enhancement is in the system. Please open a support ticket or visit the uservoice forums to vote for this enhancement.

Is this out on Kace v5.5 as yet? - hjansari 11 years ago

There is no automation of deleting untracked items in 5.5. I don't know if there is a deeper reason for people wanting to delete these items, but there is a new software catalog that might address the core reasons some people were asking for this. But, if the motivation was purely for cleanup then you can still manually delete 250 at a time. - GillySpy 11 years ago

What is the new software catalog and does it clean up software version as well? - hjansari 11 years ago

Short answer yes, but without getting too far off track of the question...it is a catalogue maintained by Dell Kace for which the K1000 agent will gather proprietary fingerprint information about an application for normalized tracking of the application in the K1. I would check out the release notes of the K1 for more http://www.kace.com/support/resources/documentation - GillySpy 11 years ago

Is there any way of filtering the software inventory? For example, we have Autocad LT 2010 on 17 systems. Under software inventory, there are four different lines for this, each keying off the version. 8 run one version, 9 run another, 1 runs a third, and one runs a fourth. Also, there is a version of Autodesk Vault 2009 runnign on 2 different machines. however, the publisher on one is listed simply as Autodesk, the other as Autodesk, Inc.
What I am looking for is a way to filter the automatic software inventory, so that it only pull specific information (Software Name) and shows the total number of machines it is installed on.

I think its important to note that all this is by design.
The KBOX identifies software by name, vendor and version.
This method of identification is absolutely critical, especially when it comes to managed installations.
If your looking for more of a summary view, i recommend creating a custom report.
