unable to access webpage with hostname but with ipaddress
Installed XAMPP on a windows 7 VM.
Able to access the page from my laptop on the network with ipaddress but not with machine name.
Tried to ping the machine, it is showing ipv6 format instead of ipv4.So unchecked ipv6 in the adapter settings on the VM network settings.Now able to see the ipv4 address when I ping the VM from laptop.
But still not able to access the webpage with machine name.
Any suggestions??

Have you double-checked your Hostname DNS resolution? If you do an nslookup on the hostname, does it come back with the same IP as what the VM is getting? - Gidrakos 7 years ago
