Unable to locate device owners in Asset types
I'm tying to assign ownership to certain asset types. When i go to Asset Types > Device, than check mark the device i would like to give ownership for >Choose Action >Assign to. I do not have the "Assign To" Option. Am I missing a step when I was creating the asset?

I'm fairly certain this functionality is only available for the device asset type. You can add a user field to other types of assets and assign users, but the Choose Action, Assign functionality won't be available.

To assign "Ownership" to a non device Asset type, you will need to add a field in to the type that shows as a "User".
You will then be able to assign an owner in every asset record
And you will then be able to see in the User record what assets are assigned to each user.
Ownership data will then be able to be managed on mobile scanner apps such as Go or our own BarKode app so you can update data at the customer desk etc

In my testing this doesn't enable the specific function of selecting a row in the list view and assigning the owner via the Choose Action menu. Did that work in your environment? - chucksteel 4 years ago
