Updating Software to New Version

Hi all,

I'm new to KACE 1000 and am getting to know the patching side of it. I have a simple question that I think I know the answer to but wanted to verify.

As a test, I created a smart label to identify Adobe Flash Player updates. I ran a detect against my computer. It detected 4 Flash Player updates. I then ran a deploy and it upgrade me from 10.2.152.32 to 10.3.183.18, which is the latest version of 10. Is it possible to "patch" to version 11, or do you have to create a software distribution that uninstalls 10 and installs 11, then patch it? Or do you include software installers and that will upgrade it? I know the caveat with including installers is it will install the software if someone doesn't have it during a detect.

Thank you for any insight provided.

Jeff

Answer Summary:
Your assumption is correct. To get 10 patched to 11 you will need to first distribute 11 to that system

You can also dowload software installers into the patchign engine but I would make sure you limit using label so the KBOX doesn't download everything for each version of an application.
