Help managing deploying Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 from K2000 simultaneously

Hello Ninjas,

I'm currently deploying Windows 7 with my boot env which I created long ago using WinPE 3, i'm starting to build a Windows 8.1 image now but I'm wondering if I upload a new WinPE 4 boot env to my K2000 box, will this break my current WinPE 3 boot env? Or will just be able to use the new WinPE 4 boot env to keep deploying Windows 7 along side Windows 8.1? How can I manage the windows 7 and windows 8.1 driver feed? I can't see to find any.  I'd love to hear about success stories on this!

Looking at deploying Windows 8.1 to tables (Latittude 10 and Venue Pro 11) at first, but eventually will deploy to laptops as well.

Thank you for any feedbacks!

  • I think you better keep only one WinPE disk for all your Windows OS. Windows 7 can be deployed with WinPE 4 so upgrade your Windows 7 installation can be the best option you have here - fantomasss 10 years ago

You can deploy both OS's with WinPE 4 but specifically with those tablets, you will need to create bootable UEFI usb sticks to load the KBE.  They won't be able to PXE.

  • Thanks for the reply, I'm hoping that I will be able to PXE boot with the tablets using docking stations, I'm currently waiting for my Venue 11 pro and dock to arrive to start testing.. - mantexau 10 years ago
