USMT and NT_STATUS_SHARING_VIOLATION Error -RESOLVED
While running a USMT to migrate XP to windows 7, I had run into this when the USMT got interrupted by switching to a different view in Kbox. Trying to run this again would result in the following error regardless of rebooting the remote computer
ERROR: Failed to copy file - /kbox/bin/KBRemoteService.exe - NT_STATUS_SHARING_VIOLATION
It further drove me nuts that no one else seemed to be having this problem and support had no idea how to resolve it.
You simply need to kill the KBSH service on the remote computer. Either do it by connecting remotely in the service panel, or command line
taskkill /S <computername> /F/ IM KBRemoteService.exe
