WIN 7 and Office 2010 Deployment

Hello Guys

we got both K1000 and K2000 appliances. been bit time but not much used .

now we are going to do a complete rebuild of IT setup. all DELL PCs needs to rebuild from scratch with WIN7 and Office 2010 and few other softwares that we use.

what is the best way forwrad to implement this.

we have 4 diffrent models of DELL PCs.

total 70 PCs.

is it best to build all models with win7 install office and other apps then capture images and deploy to all. or is there any other best way of doing it.

Thanks Harry

Utilize the post installs. It's saved me multiple times. You can add/change software rather quickly.

K1000 KKE's: https://support.software.dell.com/k1000-systems-management-appliance/kb?k=KKE

We also utilize this for our drivers. This saves you from having to inject your drivers into your different images. With a little setup this will take care of that for you.

It is best to include Office 2010 in your build if you are planning to roll it out to all the users.

You can include core applications in the build image itself

like

Office 2010 (Std) - By default..MS Access will not be there..

Adobe Reader 10

Flash Palyer Plugin

Flash Player ActiveX control

Shockwave Player

.NET 4.0 which is already there in Windows 7, just enable it

Java Runtime Environment 1.7.0_01 (Whichever is latest)

  • I install and config any software needed that is covered by a all site license on my base images, saves much post time and prevents post configuration variations caused by the techs taking liberties. - SMal.tmcc 12 years ago

there are many roads to follow

Since you are doing a clean install, install your software on your master and configure user settings prior to syspreping.

here is a blog to the masters I create for classrooms
