Why does Windows 11 revert to default background and taskbar settings upon deployment?

Hello IT Ninja colleagues,

I just sysprepped a Windows 11 image from a virtual machine with the "company settings" for the default background and taskbar, but then after capturing and deploying the image- Windows 11 reverts to the default background and taskbar settings. Why does Windows 11 revert to default background and taskbar settings upon deployment?  Is there a way to fix this issue?

I resolved it by copying the default profile

What did you use to copy the profile?

I use the Kace image prep file to copy the default profile, it works, but starting this month it won't copy my custom start and taskbar layouts.  Everything else seems to copy over from my default profile, except for the start and taskbar layouts.  Not sure if it's the Kace image prep files or just somethin that windows is causing.

I used the Kace image prep executable.  It is possible that there is something with Windows- as we had issues with the start screen for Office showing the head admin who built the iso as the default user.  There is a way around that by just closing the window and then restarting the application.
