Windows 7 PostInstall Converter Question

Ok I am confused on how to use this script.

So I make a New postinstallation Task name it something like Run Once Converter.

Runtime environment K2000 Boot Environment Windows

command line: call runonceex_converter.bat

1st. On a Deployment Scripted Installations I add this to the run Mid-Level Task correct?

2nd. How do I use it in the run postinstallation task?

3rd. Can someone give me an example?

Thanks!

Just place it as the last mid-level task in your deployment, and all of the post-install tasks will be copied locally and ran in the OS during first login, rather than inside of the KBE.

Example:  If you want to install the KACE Agent as a post-install task, you add it like normal to the post-install section.  If you include the RunOnceEx Converter in the mid-level tasks, then the .msi for the agent gets copied to the local drive and will execute after the first login after sysprep completes, rather than running in WinPE.

Does that answer your questions?  We use the Converter in all of our system images, I may be able to answer some other questions about it.

  • PO task converter just moves the POs to run via the runonceex registry, instead of from a .bat file. By doing this, it allows the system to reboot and pick up where it left off. From a .bat file, you wouldn't be able to pick up where you left off.
