this error seems to be caused by a corrupted Windows Update.
If only one system is affected, https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-update-troubleshooter-for-windows-10-19bc41ca-ad72-ae67-af3c-89ce169755dd could help.

Please check if other systems work well here.

  • Hi Nico,

Run the troubleshooter, no error was found.
Many systems are affected, some systems can be upgraded.
The affected system cannot use kace to upgrade, but it can be upgraded use Windows 20H2 syste ISO full image. - Nykko 3 years ago
    • strange, I see, that you opened a SR with support and the engineer will support you soon with that. It would be nice if you update here with a solution as soon as the issue is solved. Thanks - Nico_K 3 years ago
      • Thanks Nico, Maybe it's a bug, upgrade to 2004 can be success, update to the latest patch, and it can be upgraded from 2004 to 20h2. - Nykko 3 years ago
    • Nykko, were you able to get this resolved? If so what did you do? - eshields@sheetz 3 years ago

I'm currently testing the Feature Update patching and I'm running into this same issue.  Is it something related to the 1909 to 20H2 Feature Update?

I ran into this and found it was the hardware for the Lenovo laptops that was blocking the install.  I did a manual update on those systems and once they were onto 2004 they updated properly to 20H1 and now 21H1.

You didn't say what kind of hardware you are having the issue with but for me it was very specific models of laptops.

99% of my desktops updated with no issues.
