After the latest KACE K1000 security update, re-imaged windows 7 machines will not inventory
On machines that have had the agent previously (Windows 7 for sure, not sure about Windows 10), after a re-image with agent install, the device will not inventory. It connects to the K1000 (blue icon showing connection), but it will not update inventory.
Forcing an inventory launches runkbot.exe and all the sub processes (kinventory.exe, kplugins.exe) -- an inventory.xml file is written in the programdata folder, but it is like it never updates it on the server.
Anyone have any ideas what is happening here?

So I figured this out. For some reason, I had to delete the old object inside of the K1000 inventory, and then they started to inventory just fine.

The agent has never been installed on the image -- only as a task in the post install tasks. Not sure why this happens, it only happens with windows 7 images, both 32bit and 64bit, and it only started happening after the last k1000 patch. The fix is pretty simple (just delete the systems out of the inventory, and then they start checking in correctly. - jcherpes 6 years ago
