Another 3rd Party (Java / Adobe) Patching question, please help. K1000

Here's the thing I'm trying to do. I want to set up a patching schedule to add 3rd party apps, ie adobe reader, flash, java etc. to a PC if it checks in and doesn't have the most recent updates/version. For example, if a PC doesn't have Java installed at all, I want it to have it be downloaded to that PC via the patching. I've created 2 labels, one for Java and the other for Adobe by going thru this link: https://support.software.dell.com/k1000-systems-management-appliance/kb/111329

Basically i create the smart label to add all the patches, then set up the detect and deploy. I tested it on one machine with java not installed - it said it succeeded, yet java isn't on that PC. What am I doing wrong? Any help at all is appreciated, thank you so much.

Running the most updated amp agent and server 6.4xxx

Have you selected "Softare Installer" under the types of application patches in your schedule?

  • actually no, software installer was unchecked. - mazostyle 8 years ago
  • also, in the smart label where i set up the java patches, under restrict usage to: software is unchecked there, the only thing that's checked is patches. Should i change that as well?? - mazostyle 8 years ago
    • I have a patch schedule for just java and one for abobe separate for all others. My smart labels only have the patching checked. That just limits where you can assign this label to and where it shows. Does not effect the download. If you did not check software installer the patching download only gets the updates/patches not the full install also. - SMal.tmcc 8 years ago
