Corrupted Install.exe file for bootable USB BE, has anyone seen this?
When the K2000 creates a downloadable ZIP file for creating a bootable USB flash drive, the 'Install.exe' is corrupted and the Bootable USB flash drive never gets created (no files on it etc.). When this happens the command window which does the diskpart etc. never launches (this is how I have come to realize it is not working). I know the EXE is corrupted because I can copy one from another file directory that I know works and then I can create the bootable USB BE on the flash drive. I can not find any information for this issue so my question is... Has anyone seen this and do you know how to fix it? My workaround for now has been replacing the Install.exe with the known good one.
Thanks, Joe
Thanks, Joe

Are you clicking on the install.exe with your mouse?

Doesn't seem to matter, I have tried from command line as well, as administrator etc. and the 'known to be good' install.exe runs fine with mouse clicks or command line execution. - jjvillani 9 years ago

Just tested a new pe5x64 upload and I can duplicate your problem trying to create a stick on my x32 station, let me test a little more and then I will contact the Kace Engineer about this. - SMal.tmcc 9 years ago

are you using MM or KBEM to upload - SMal.tmcc 9 years ago

While attempting to troubleshoot this myself, I used both and there seems to be no correlation. Another thing to mention is that the ISOs work fine for both the MM or KBE uploads. Generating the USB boot package is where things seem to go bad. - jjvillani 9 years ago

If I use the MM it fails but works with the KBEM. My kbem version is 3.7.0.3 - SMal.tmcc 9 years ago

are you creating Legacy or UEFI boot? and what is your kbox version? - SMal.tmcc 9 years ago

found out the stick I was using is messed up. I use the KBEM 3.7.0.3 to upload and the stick works fine with pe 3 and 5/legacy and ntfs boot. I do have to open the cmd window and change to the KBE dir before entering install otherwise it fails. - SMal.tmcc 9 years ago

Legacy boot, Kbox version is 3.7.110284, using same KBEM as you 3.7.0.3. my USB stick is fine, as I said if I switch the install.exe with known good version the stick gets created just fine. - jjvillani 9 years ago

thanks, I did that trick of using an older install.exe with a previous version, The install exe became a problem with me when they starting hiding the cmd windows during the install. I am working with Kace on this will let you know as soon as we figure out what is the bug. - SMal.tmcc 9 years ago
