K1000: Custom script for tracert results

I'm not sure if this is possible but I need to run a tracert daily and pipe those results to a daily email.  Sort of like custom inventory rule to report against and then schedule the report to be sent daily.  I'm just not sure how to limit the CIR to one machine to run.  I hope that makes sense.  Which is the best way to utlize Kace to do this?  Thanks

  • While I think it's cool to have KACE do interesting things I'm not sure that it's the best tool for this job. If you just need traceroute data from one particular machine then I would investigate a tool that could perform the traceroute and then email it or post the results someplace. - chucksteel 11 years ago

You cannot limit it to one machine just the OS. You can run a script that will export the results to a .txt file. Then have Kace inventory that file.

tracert google.com > C:\temp\tracert.txt

Custom inventory rule:

ShellCommandTextReturn(cmd.exe /c type "C:\temp\tracert.txt")

  • Depending on OS, you might be able to use CDO to send the email: http://www.paulsadowski.com/wsh/cdo.htm
