Dell Kace: Extracting Additional Information from Active Directory for User Inventory Info

The computers connected to our Dell Kace are configured using Active Directory. Under Inventroy Information > User, it is pulling in the user logged, username (in our case a unique ID), and domain. However, it is not brining over the users full name, which is visible for a machine not using Active Directory for authentication.

How can we configure or script Kace to pull the user's actual name from Active Directory?

  • Good question. We would also like to pull in phone number and room, if possible. - hoodathunkut 10 years ago
  • Great document on KACE LDAP settings here: https://www.kace.com/support/resources/kb/article/~/media/Files/Support/Knowledge-Base/KACE%20Appliance%20LDAP%20Reference%20Guide.ashx

My guess is that you are not pulling that attribute during the import schedule for your domain users. Detailed instructions on how to pull various attributes from AD into Kace in the above listed document. - KHaught 10 years ago
  • I'm guessing that the two items are not related. I am importing other data like building and phone. But those aren't showing up on the Inventory record. I'm still on 5.5. - grayematter 10 years ago

There is not a way to do this with the default inventory.  It could be possible to use a tool such as ADfind by joeware in order to retrieve the attributes and put them in a text file that could be retrieved by a custom inventory rule.
